Pacific Science & Engineering has combined efforts with SD-HFES to help San Diego Food Bank provide food to those in need. Every other month since April 2008, and sometimes every month during time of need, a team of 10-15 members has gone to the San Diego Food Bank to sort and package food. Besides helping people in need, this has been a great team building exercise as well.
Our next volunteering event will be: Tuesday, August 3 at 6:00PM
If you are interested in volunteering at San Diego Food Bank, please email us and we will add you to the invitation list.

Pacific Science & Engineering and SD-HFES volunteering at San Diego Food Bank
Date: TBD (summer)
IThirteen members and guests of SD-HFES toured the North City Water Reclamation Plant on 8 July, 2010. This was a fine adjunct to our Greywater Project that started with World Usability Day in November 2009 and culminated with a display at the EarthFair in April 2010.
On the tour, we observed Control Stations as well as Pumping and Holding Stations. We learned about primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment. We discovered ‘how the water flows’ from the Colorado River into San Diego, through various treatment and usage venues, until it is released from the Pt Loma facility into the ocean.
